Leeds, Maine – A Stronghold for Republican Values in Androscoggin County
Nestled in the heart of Androscoggin County, Leeds is a rural gem with a population of around 2,000 residents. Part of MSAD 52 (serving Turner, Greene, and Leeds), Leeds embodies the independent spirit and conservative principles that define Maine Republicans—from family farms to outdoor recreation on Androscoggin Lake, our residents prioritize self-reliance, fiscal responsibility, and community safety—values we fight for at all levels of government.
As the Leeds representative on the Androscoggin County Republican Committee, I'm proud to say we have room to grow our local team. With approximately 650 enrolled Republicans in Leeds, our bylaws allow for 5-6 full elected members plus up to 3 associates. Whether you're interested in becoming a full voting member (nominated at caucuses) or an associate (attend 2 meetings to join), we need your voice to recruit, train, elect, and support candidates who advance our shared interests.
Importance of the Leeds Town Caucus & Building Momentum
The Leeds Municipal Republican Caucus is the foundational event where we come together as enrolled Republicans to organize locally and set the stage for broader GOP success. Here's why it's crucial and how it creates a chain of momentum:
-
Local Empowerment: At the caucus, we elect our municipal chair and officers, nominate 6 full voting members to the Androscoggin County Republican Committee (ACRC), and select 11 delegates (plus alternates) to the Maine Republican State Convention. This gives Leeds direct influence—your vote shapes who represents us at higher levels.
-
Builds to County Caucus: Nominated members and delegates from Leeds (and other towns) feed into the county caucus, where we finalize county leadership, strategies, and endorsements. A strong Leeds turnout means our priorities (like rural issues) get heard, revitalizing the ACRC and filling vacancies for immediate impact post-convention.
-
Momentum to Lincoln Day Dinner (LDD): The county caucus sets up events like our annual Lincoln Day Dinner (March 7, 2026)—a fundraising and networking gala. Leeds' active participation brings energy, donors, and volunteers, strengthening county-wide recruitment and candidate support.
-
Culminates at State Convention: Delegates from Leeds vote on the state platform, elect state committee members, and influence national delegates. This connects our local voice to statewide and national GOP efforts, building toward 2026 elections and beyond.
